Please join us for an update on the Hanford site which will be presented by Santos Ortega.  We hope to see you there!

Registration and lunch begin at 11:30am with the presentation from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.
Lunch will include a gourmet grilled cheese (blend of havarti cheese and swiss cheese on sourdough bread), creamy tomato basil soup, and a green house salad.

Presenter Bio:

Santos has been employed in various Personnel Management/EEO/Diversity positions with the Department of Energy since 1986.  He is currently the EEO manager for both RL & ORP Site Offices in Richland.  Prior to DOE, he was an Employment Specialist with the Washington State Employment Security Department from 1981 to 1986.  Over the past thirty years he has been responsible for interpreting, developing and implementing federal, state and private industry personnel and EEO laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

In his DOE career he has been instrumental in developing a full range of administrative and technical recruitment and career development programs addressing everything from targeted affirmative action requirements, entry level needs, to hard to fill specialized positions for RL/ORP & HQ’s.

His volunteer community activities have included being appointed by the Governor of the State of Washington to serve a four-year term on the Washington State Judicial Review Commission to various local and regional minority and non-minority community organizations where he has served in various leadership and financial capacities.  He served as the head assistant Boys basketball coach at Tri-Cities Prep Catholic High School for sixteen years and was recently appointed to their school board.  He is a proud alumnus of Washington State University majoring in business administration/sociology.

For the second half of the program year, our chapter's community outreach will be support My Friends Place, a safe overnight sanctuary for homeless teens located in Kennewick, WA.  My Friends Place is currently providing immediate basic human survival needs for youth, 13 through 17, on the streets.  This includes providing warm meals, showers, laundry, and a safe place to rest.  Please consider donating some of the following items
  - monthly youth bus passes
  - bottled water/sports drinks
  - food (boxed/canned foods, dairy, fruits, granola bars, crackers, cereal, etc.)
  - otter pops/popsicles
  - L/XL/XXL men's underwear/socks
  - ladies underwear and socks
  - summer clothing (all sizes)
  - twin sized sheets, pillowcases, and mattress protectors
  - toilet paper/paper towels
  - hand sanitizer
  - kleenex
  - cleaning supplies/bleach
  - trash bags
  - air fresheners

Monetary donations for My Friends Place will also be accepted.
